Should I get a massage?

Therapeutic massage techniques are a non-invasive, relaxing and natural therapy. It is therefore generally considered a safe treatment for most people. However, for some individuals massage is not recommended.  The following restrictions are in place to protect your health and well-being: 

          When you have any of these conditions, please do not book a massage.

 

  • Contagious or infectious diseases, including any cold, sinus cold, coughy, achy, sneezy thing or flu. No matter how mild it may seem.
  • Fever above 101 degrees
  • Under the influence of drugs or alcohol, including prescription pain medication
  • Recent operations, acute injuries or broken bones
  • Neuritis
  • Skin diseases such as shingles, mumps, measles or chicken pox
  • Pregnancy in the first trimester or pregnancy with complications.

 

         The therapist can massage but not over any areas affected by:

  • Varicose veins
  • Undiagnosed lumps or bumps
  • Pregnancy
  • Bruising, cuts, scrapes or abrasions
  • Sunburn
  • Undiagnosed pain
  • Inflammation, including arthritis
