Welcome to An Idle Hour Therapeutic Massage. My name is Marianne Bashista. Years ago, I suffered several serious knee injuries and began a long recovery back from multiple surgeries. I went thru months of physical therapy to gain strength back into my diminishing leg. I found that on the days that the massage therapist at the PT office worked on me, I felt better. I requested more of his time and found I gained strength and mobility faster with less pain. It occurred to me that there was something to this massage thing. It was more than just a way to relax. This is not in any way to dimiss the value of the regular physical therapy, but the deep tissue massage is what worked for me.
Therapeutic massage continued to intrigue me and I decided to go back to school to research and study massage. I attended
Deep Tissue Massage or any massage for that matter is no longer seen as a luxury but a necessity to prevent recurrent pain and alleviate problem conditions that in the old days only medication or surgery could correct. Most of us have experienced pain in some form. As we age it only seems to get worse or at least we notice the pain more often. This is why it is important to have regular massage. Just like a marathon runner, we canít go out and practice one day and expect to finish a 26 mile race. It takes time to lengthen and strengthen our muscles over a period of months to be in the right condition for a marathon.
The same goes for massage, it may take some time and several sessions to relax the muscles that have been shortened and have been causing that pain for so long, even though in most cases some relief is immediate. Generally a few massage sessions close together are recommended and then we try to get you on to a maintenance schedule, perhaps bi-monthly, monthly or every 6 weeks. It varies as much by person as by issue. Some people can and do come in for a weekly body tune-up.
Each massage session is individualized to treat your body's needs. No two sessions will be alike. Caring and thoughtful blending of techniques transform your rigid, congested and achy muscles into soft, pliable fibers. Traditional Swedish, Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Shiatsu and Neuromuscular Massage combined with acupressure and gentle stretches allow us to treat each part of your body, whether it be for stress reduction and relaxation or for wellness and pain management. Massage can improve flexibility, relieve pain and nurture your spirit.
Thank you for visiting An Idle Hour Therapeutic Massage and I hope to hear from you soon!
